MILITIAMEN KIDNAP CITIZENS FROM TWO CONTINENTS

France is working with the Congolese authorities to release one of their citizens who was part of a group abducted at the gold mine run by Banro Corp in the Eastern republic of Congo.

Banro said earlier on Thursday that suspected militiamen had kidnapped five workers - a French national, a Tanzanian and three Congoloese - at its Namoya gold mine in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo.

The attack took place during the night of Tuesday into Wednesday and an investigation is ongoing, Crispin Mutwedu, a senior Banro official, added in his comment to the Reuters, that a local militia had been threatening the mine recently.
